Relentless

Mark Greaney never disappoints – he might be the best US action thriller writer right now – but Relentless is particularly superb, the ideal meeting of espionage mystery with balls-to-the-floor gunplay. It begins with Court ‘Gray Man’ Gentry trying to bounce back from a life-threatening injury, and trying to save the life of former SVR agent and love interest Zoya Zakharova in Germany, with various bad actors on their case; they are assisted, as previously, by Zack Hightower. The intrigue comes from the machinations of various powers, treachery, twists and turns, before the action bursts into glorious scarlet-tinged life. Series fans will particularly love the shock ending.
