THE RECKONING

Krystyna Green, publishing director of Constable, writes:

Yesterday we published the third in the wonderful DS Lucy Golden series by Martina Murphy.  Not only is it an engrossing and brilliantly plotted police procedural, the sense of place and isolation on the beautiful Achill peninsula is brought to life in these pages, making you want to visit this wild area on your next holidays.  The characters are so wonderfully realised too; Lucy, her boss and the team all come to life and become your friends through the course of the book.

In brief, at an isolated house by Dugort pier a body is found. DS Lucy Golden is shocked to discover that the victim, Sandra Byrne, is a sister of one of her old school friends. To further complicate matters, Ben Lively, one of Lucy’s colleagues, is the chief suspect. Lucy must put aside her bias in order to uncover the truth. But the deeper she digs into Sandra’s life, the more the past starts to unravel and the less she seems to know. How do you solve a murder when all you have are lies?

You know you are in safe hands when you can lose yourself in somebody else’s world and find you really care about them and the trials they are subjected to!  So if you haven’t discovered Martina’s writing already, do yourself a favour and do pick up The Reckoning.
