Nine Elms

Is there anything better than when one of your favourite authors starts writing a new series?

When Robert Bryndza, internationally bestselling author of the Detective Erika Foster series, announced a new project I knew it was going to be good. Damn good. But then Nine Elms blew my expectations out of the water. It’s his best book yet.

Nine Elms is such an unusual, heart-in-mouth thriller that I read every page in a sort of fever: pulse racing and mind whirring. It follows Kate Marshall, a woman with a dark secret and a genuine desire for justice. Kate is the best sort of protagonist – ingenious, insightful, compassionate, direct and smart as hell – but also flawed and haunted by a past that threatens to catch up with her.

When women start being murdered, Kate doesn’t want to have anything to do with it, but this case is personal and before long she is sucked into a cat-and-mouse game with someone who clearly wants her dead. She is joined by a brilliant cast of characters, notably Tristan Harper, her research assistant, who will go to any length to help her stay one step ahead.

Already this is one of my favourite duos in crime fiction and I can’t wait to see what comes next for Kate and Tristan. If you haven’t found your first book of 2020 then this is the perfect choice for you. And if you have, then make Nine Elms your second, or your third. You won’t regret it.
