The Body Falls

Well, what strange times we are currently living in; the only good thing to come out of all this seems to be that everyone wants more books – people are reading more, and buying more too, it would appear. We were told earlier in the week, when we were still coming into the thing known as ‘an office’ that when people are panic buying at Tesco and Asda they are now throwing in books on top of their trollies. So – hurrah for that!

This week’s Friday Read is the wonderful The Body Falls by Andrea Carter – Andrea was due to be participating in various bookstore events and crime-writing festivals in Ireland this week but sadly and unsurprisingly all these events have been cancelled. So do discover this wonderful Irish author for yourselves now, whether in print or ebook. The action is set in Andrea’s home town of Glendara on the Inishowen peninsula. It’s tense and so very atmospheric, and Jo Spain thinks it’s Andrea’s best yet. I think so too – she is so good at writing about extreme weather that by the end of the book you’ll be wanting to wring out your socks and dry off by a radiator . . . just the immersive and exciting read you need to take your mind off the currents events surrounding us.
